1.) Your business doesn't exist [to your customers] without one!

More than ever, people are connected and connecting with businesses online. Even if its just to get directions or more information, people are turning to the Internet to find it. Google has replaced the phone book. If you're not online - you and you're business simply don't exist to your customers. If Google can't find you, how will your customers?

While you may get sales through word of mouth for a while, you're not taking full advantage of the reach a website has for potential customers outside your extended network. How would you feel if you found out that a whale of a client had a need for your products or services, yet you missed the opportunity because he couldn't find your contact information?

Today's customers are impatient individuals who expect to be able to find your information online. If you have a website, you have less than 10 seconds to give that potential customer an incentive to stay on your site. Without a website, you don't even have that! These customers will happily go elsewhere if it means they can find what they're looking for faster.

2.) You're losing [money] to your competitors without putting up a fight.

I'll bet that at least two of your competitors have a website. By not having a website, you're actually helping your competitors. Without a website, anyone searching online will buy from them over you simply because they're there. Essentially, you are giving your competition uncontested access to a large pool of potential customers.

Without a website, you not only losing money to them, you're making it easier for them to make money! They don't have to worry whether or not their product or service is better than yours. Since you have no online presence, your competition just has to "show up" to make money.

As a result, a you will have to work much harder and spend more time to make the same amount of sales as your competition.

3.) Your website will work [27/7/365].

You're website works for you while you're asleep, stuck in traffic, or blowing off work to enjoy a nice, sunny day. It's always on. You're website answers questions, provides information, and promotes your business without your direct involvement. It's like having a customer service, marketing, and sales department for your business - all without having to pay extra!

My website allows potential clients to contact me, see my potential work, and learn more about how I can help their business without presence. Even when I'm sick or out of town, people can view my site and learn more about my business.

For small businesses, website has become the unofficial standard for professionalism and legitimacy. Never mind if you have business cards or brochures, a business without a website is rarely seen as anything more than half-baked attempt at earning extra income.

In 2011, fifty-five percent of all small businesses did not have a website. Of that percentage, forty-one percent believe they don't need one. I still have trouble believing that business owners think that they don't need a website. If you're a business owner reading this and you don't think you need a website, you do. Aside from the reasons given above, having a website is just part of the how business is done in the 21st century.

If you don't have a website, you're already behind. 2011 was the year of the mobile website. Next year it will be something new. How long are you going to wait to get on board?
